Darlene Robinson has worked in Human Resources for over 20 years, in small owner-operated companies, medium management-structured firms, and large board-governed organizations across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. She credits this experience for enriching her perspective on human relations in the workplace, relations that can become HR issues. Darlene believes that “when people have a sense of value, purpose, and community, we can be highly adaptable and create positive change.” In her spare time Darlene volunteers with the Newcomer Mentoring programs at Mohawk College and the Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford YMCA. Prior to that, she volunteered as a crisis line responder at a distress center for 17 years.

Property Managers are experiencing burnout. What was once a rewarding career in preventing homelessness has, in some situations, become overwhelming. As we take on the role of the support person, managing complaints and aggressive tenants, the weariness is simmering, and some individuals are leaving the profession.
What can we do to ease the burden of property managers and attract new people to our industry? The session will cover the challenges of being empathetic to tenants while running a business, tips to combat burnout of staff and maintain a positive outlook.
