Then & Now – IHM Reflection

Jimmy Mellor,  FIHM, IHM President

Over 45 years in Property Management – condos, co-ops, medical, recreation, business, residential and social/community housing. Expert in all aspects of budgeting, maintenance delivery, landlord and tenant issues, Landlord and Tenant Board actions, tender development and delivery for effective asset management.  Retired October 31, 2024 from day-to-day management.

IHM Involvement:

• Joined the IHM board in 2013
• IHM President since 2017
• IHM instructor at Humber College since 2000 and George Brown since 2024 – 
• Past co-chair of Conference Committee, Distance and in-class learning instructor, Education Committee

Potential Future Opportunities for IHM:

• Expansion of the educational program to other institutions; offer students the interaction with other professionals in a classroom setting
• Be a positive influence on future legislation, and pursuit of industry related partnerships
• Participate and educate all related industries and agencies at industry conferences

Deborah Filice, MEd, FIHM, CIHCM, CMMIII, RSSW, IHM Education Director

Deborah is a seasoned housing professional with more than 40 years of experience working and volunteering in the non-profit housing sector. She is the Past President and current Education Director of IHM. In her most recent role as Chief Executive Officer of the Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation, Deborah provided leadership and oversight of the organization’s operations. She now leads her own consulting firm, DAF Property Management Services Inc., providing expertise in property management and housing services. Deborah is also an instructor with Humber College and George Brown College, a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and the Chartered Institute of Housing. Deborah currently serves on two co-operative housing boards and has volunteered extensively in various capacities throughout her career.
