Understanding Mental Health from the Property Manager's Perspective
Thursday, April 22, 2021
12:00 - 1:30pm. Eastern Time (US and Canada)
CMHA Durham - Alec King, Felicea Noble
In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. Our mental health is affected by numerous factors from daily life, like the stress of balancing work with your health and relationships.
Housing is a fundamentally key factor in people's mental health. People with housing problems are at greater risk of mental health problems. Good-quality, affordable and safe housing is a vital component in good mental health, as well as supporting those with existing mental health conditions.
This presentation will provide information about mental health, the stigma surrounding mental health issues and the vital role housing plays in maintaining good mental health. We'll detail how CMHA Durham's Housing Case Management and Facilities & Property Management Departments work together with community landlords to provide safe secure housing for people dealing with mental health issues.
