January 21, 2026 | 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
This session will focus specifically on the fire alarm–related changes within the updated Ontario Fire Code coming into effect January 1, 2026, including the adoption of CAN/ULC-S536-19.
With the upcoming adoption of the updated Ontario Fire Code and the implementation of CAN/ULC-S536-19, 2026 will represent one of the most significant shifts in fire alarm inspection, testing, and documentation requirements in years if not decades. This session will provide property and facility management professionals with a practical, plain-language overview of what is changing, why it matters, and how it will impact compliance obligations moving forward.
The presentation will focus on real-world implications, including changes to inspection scope, reporting requirements, inspection frequency considerations, record retention, and how these updates may affect budgets, staffing coordination, and vendor accountability. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of what actions they should be taking in 2025 to prepare for a smooth transition in 2026.
