Board of Directors Training:
Governance, Oversight and Ontario Reporting Requirements

 This IHM Chat Session will provide Board Directors, property managers and support staff with an overview of governance responsibilities, fiduciary duties and oversight obligations within Ontario’s housing sector. Participants will explore the distinction between governance and day-to-day management, legislative requirements, financial oversight, regulatory compliance and risk management.

The session will highlight effective Board reporting, informed decision-making, conflict-of-interest management and productive Board management relationships. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of their respective roles in supporting accountability, maintaining accurate documentation, escalating concerns appropriately and ensuring that Board decisions are effectively communicated and implemented.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Understand Board responsibilities and fiduciary duties
• Recognize key legislative and regulatory obligations affecting Ontario housing providers
• Identify effective approaches to financial oversight, reporting and risk management
• Strengthen Board–management relationships, accountability and decision-making
